Patrick Francis Donovan, Nudgee College, 1936–1938
Patrick Francis Donovan applied for the Rhodes Scholarship was serving as an infantry officer in New Guinea. He took up the Scholarship in 1946. After a successful academic career, Donovan joined the diplomatic service, specialising as a trade representative.

Lister George Hopkins was a student at Toowomba Grammar School from 1924-1927. At Oxford he gained First Class Honours in Mathematics and, as an adviser to the United Nations, established and co-ordinated the first census ever conducted in the West Indies.

Was Dux, winner of an Open Scholarship, Lewis Thomas Scholarship and a Rhodes Scholar in 1947. A lifelong campaigner for the integration of patient care, clinical teaching and research, he was appointed Foundation Professor of Clinical Science at the Australian National University.

Graham Bond is an Australian gymnast who competed at three Olympic Games - 1956 Melbourne, 1960 Rome and 1964 Tokyo Olympics.
