Monsignor Edward Sarsfield Barry, Nudgee College, 1905-1907
Military Chaplain. Nudgee’s first Old Boy priest, he spent more time on the Western Front than any chaplain in the AIF. Born 23 December 1889 at Rockhampton, Qld.
Affectionately known as 'The Mons', was born near Toowoomba in 1904 and when he completed secondary school, became a teacher. After three years he entered seminary training, being ordained as a priest in 1930.
Fr Jack Rosenskjar was ordained as a priest in 1940 and joined the Australian Army as a Military Chaplain. He served the men of the 25th battalion and saw service at Milne Bay during the Japanese occupation.
Rev Dr Evan Burge, Toowoomba Grammar School 1924-1927
Rev Dr Evan Burge was a student at Toowoomba Grammar School from 1924-1927. He was a classical scholar, Oxford and Princeton graduate, educator and liturgist.
FR. JOHN BARRY O.S.A. has now returned as Prior of the Augustinian Formation community at Brookvale. It was during his time as Augustinian Provincial in the 1970’s that Fr John resided in Manly Vale and served in the parish.
