2026 Track and Field Junior Championships

GPS Track and Field Junior Carnival Shines at QSAC

The 2026 GPS Track and Field Junior Carnival delivered an exciting day of competition at the Queensland Sport and Athletics Centre (QSAC), with outstanding performances, spirited team displays, and promising young athletes showcasing the future of GPS athletics.

Under ideal conditions, competitors from across the GPS Association took to the track and field arenas, producing a series of impressive results and closely contested events. From explosive sprint finishes to determined distance races, and from powerful throws to impressive jumps, the carnival highlighted the breadth of talent developing throughout GPS schools.

The Junior Carnival is a vital part of the GPS athletics pathway, providing students with the opportunity to represent their schools, test themselves against quality competition, and gain valuable championship experience. Across all events, athletes demonstrated dedication, sportsmanship, and resilience, embracing both the challenges and rewards that come with competition at this level.

Track and field remains one of the most diverse and demanding school sports, requiring a unique combination of speed, strength, endurance, technique, and mental focus. Throughout the day, competitors rose to the occasion, producing performances that reflected months of preparation and commitment.

The success of the carnival is made possible through the collective efforts of GPS staff, school sport coordinators, officials, coaches, volunteers, and venue personnel. Their dedication ensures the event continues to provide a professional and memorable experience for all participants.

The 2026 GPS Track and Field Junior Carnival once again showcased the values that define GPS sport: commitment, teamwork, respect, and striving for personal excellence. As the next generation of athletes took centre stage at QSAC, they demonstrated not only their athletic ability but also the spirit and character that underpin GPS competition.
